DRENIA ISLETS

The Drenia islets, or "Donkey Islands" as the locals call them, are a cluster of six small islands at the southern tip of Ammouliani. These are uninhabited rocky islets that fill up exclusively in the summer with tourists or campers who choose them for their holidays. There are two popular ways to reach Drenia: either by boat from the port of Ammouliani or by renting a boat from various parts of the island. There, you'll find beach bars, a canteen, a tavern, and inflatable water games for our young friends.

MOUNT ATHOS CRUISES

Every day from Ouranoupoli and Ormos Panagias, tourist boats depart heading towards Mount Athos. A cruise to Mount Athos is an experience that promises to leave a lasting impression on the traveler, as their audiovisual senses are constantly engaged. The boat sails along the southwestern coast of Mount Athos and its imposing monasteries. For more information: athos-cruises.gr

AMMOULIANI FOLKLORE MUSEUM

The museum is located just above the island’s small port, in the main square, next to the Church of Saint Nicholas. It was once a monastic dependency (metochi) of the Vatopedi Monastery, built in 1907. When refugees arrived on the island, the building was turned into a public school. The ground floor housed the kitchens and dining area for meals, while the upper floor contained classrooms. It operated until the mid-1960s. Next to the museum, there is another stone building, now abandoned, which initially served as temporary housing for refugees and, since the 1940s, functioned as a club and venue for events such as cinema screenings, theater performances, official celebrations, etc.

The Museum Exhibits

The folklore collection of the Ammouliani Cultural Association is located on the ground floor of the stone building, while the community offices are housed on the upper floor. The Ammouliani Cultural Association was founded in 1980, has 120 members, and includes a choir, four dance groups, and a volunteer blood donation center.

CHURCH

The Church of Saint Nicholas is the island’s central church and was built in 1865. It is located in the island's main square, next to the Folklore Museum. There are also two chapels on the island: one dedicated to Saint George, located on Saint George’s Beach, and another to Saint Paraskevi, just a few meters before Kalopigado Beach.

ENTERTAINMENT

For our young visitors, the island's amusement park and games at the port will make their strolls even more enjoyable. Ammouliani is renowned for its fish and its cuisine, offering many tavernas, restaurants, and fast food canteens that will leave you with an unforgettable culinary experience. The island’s cafés, bars, and club provide the perfect relaxation to create beautiful memories and carefree holidays.
